Funeral services for Robert S. "Bob" Hede will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Highland Park Church with Pastor John Spear officiating. Cremation has taken place.
He died Friday, May 30, 2008 at Wyoming Medical Center following a long illness.
He was born April 11, 1928 in Denver, the son of Rudolph S. and Ava Lyons Hede. He spent most of his early childhood in South Dakota and Montana before moving to Powell, where the family owned Hede Implement Co.
Following graduation from Powell High School in 1946, he graduated from Southwest Photo-Arts Institute and Brooks Institute of Photography.
On Nov. 12, 1950, he married Betty Lou McClelland in Powell. They were married 45 years until her death in 1995.
They opened and operated a photography studio in Worland. They moved to Casper in 1960. In 1973 they opened Hede Photographers, Inc. which continues to operate under the direction of his son Brett.
He began the photography program for Northwest Community College, and was involved in scouting and Little League baseball. He also served as the color commentator for sporting events broadcast by KPOW radio.

He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Casper Elks Lodge No. 1353 and the Petroleum Club, presidents of the Oil City Dinner Club and Red Arrow Archery Club, and a life member of the Casper Boat Club. He was also on the Board of Directors of Central Wyoming Senior Services, and was a volunteer with the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends but it is of great comfort knowing that he is now in the hands of the Lord.
He is survived by son Robert and his wife, Jeanie, of Lander; son Brett and his wife, Judi, of Casper; son-in-law, Neil Coupens of Casper; long-time companion and best friend, Ilene Peck of Casper; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ava Greeley; his beloved wife, Betty, who was the source of his strength; and his daughter, Mitzi Coupens.
At his request, in lieu flowers, memorials to Shrine Hospital, Hospice, or the Make-A-Wish foundation would be deeply appreciated.
Newcomer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
