CASPER -- A funeral for Robert E. Coupens, 78, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Kevin Koch officiating.
Interment will be in the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville.
He died at the Central Wyoming Hospice Home on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007.
He was born on Jan. 11, 1929, to William and Agnes (Riley) Coupens in Alliance, Neb., where he was raised.
On July 15, 1951, he married Pauline Yardley.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.
The family moved to Casper in 1957. He worked most of his life in construction and then at Casper College as a maintenance supervisor.
He was a member of the Casper Elks Lodge No. 1353 and St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird watching, and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Neil Coupens of Casper; two daughters, Carla Schlager of Thermopolis and Dixie Zink of Fort Collins, Colo.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter-in-law; one brother; and three sisters.
