Robert W. Cobb, (Bob) passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Central Wyoming Hospice. He was born on December 29, 1927 in Atwater, Ohio to William and Sylvia Cobb.
Bob joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and spent two years traveling over the Pacific. After returning home he worked on the farm and at a local metal factory. He attended Ohio State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture. Then he went to work for the Soil Conservation Service as a District Conservationist. His work career took he and his family to Missouri, Washington D.C. and Wyoming where he retired as Deputy State Conservationist. After retirement Bob worked as a Program Consultant with the Conservation Districts for the Wyoming Department of Agriculture for four years.
Once he officially retired he kept busy with a variety of volunteer jobs. As a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary he brought Bingo to the patients as 'Bingo Bob', he also ran the library cart and played Santa for the traditional lighting ceremony in Conwell Park. He spent several years volunteering at Rocky Mountain Oncology; picking up patients for appointments, making and serving coffee and snacks and lifting the spirits of patients and staff. As a member of Kiwanis he read with students over the years at elementary schools in Casper. He and his wife delivered Meals on Wheels, for over 15 years. Bob was nominated for the Jefferson Award numerous times and was a recipient in 2009.
In 1951 he married Jeanette (Jan) Lehr, they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Bob and Jan had four children, Bill, Jeff, Jay and Jody. Bob is survived by his wife Jan, son Bill and wife Paulette, son Jeff and wife Ellen, son Jay and wife Kim, daughter Jody and husband Rick. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will also miss him.
Bob's greatest joys in life were spending time with his family and bringing comfort and joy to others. He will be remembered for his positive support for those dealing with life's challenges.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 5th at the First United Methodist Church 332 E. 2nd St. Casper, WY. 82601.
