Rita (Miller) McCoy Thomas, 89, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2012 at Central Wyoming Hospice after suffering a heart attack. She died peacefully surrounded by loving family.
Rita was born November 11, 1922 in Columbus, Ohio to Paul and Mary (Alexander) Miller. While living in Casper, she and her sisters attended NCHS where she graduated in 1940. She later married Charles O. McCoy who died suddenly in 1969. She worked at First National Bank for many years and had also been involved in many Shrine Club activities. In 1974 she married Noah Brooks Thomas who preceded her in death in 2004. They shared many wonderful times at their Alcova cabin, playing music, traveling and spending winters in Texas. Rita will be remembered for the kindness she showed to everyone.
She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Higgs of California, daughter, Donna Miller (Ron) of Glenrock, son Charles David McCoy (Mary) of Casper, step-daughter Rita Thomas Manko of Idaho; grandchildren Jens Swenson of Missouri, Brett Swenson (Lynette) of Casper, Holly Miller and Ryan Miller of Casper, Shane Bates, Paul Harney and Michelle Harney of Casper, Chris McCoy of California and ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
At her request cremation has taken place and a celebration of Rita's life will be held at a later date.
