Services for Richard "Rich" Wilson will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Monday, November 17th at 1:00 pm. Rich passed away November 9th at Wyoming Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Rich was born in Warsaw, Indiana on January 28, 1934 to Ruby (Jamison) and Paul Wilson. He attended school and graduated from high school in Warsaw. Rich found his way to Rock Springs, Wyoming where he met and married Jan Behrns, who was teaching at Western Wyoming Community College. They had a lively and fun marriage that lasted for nearly 50 years.
They moved to Casper in 1969, where Rich was in sales and retailing. He had two stores in the Sunrise Shopping Center and later, started a small construction company and worked in real estate sales. He retired, was extremely bored and went back to work for Xerox at Atlas Reproduction.
He was elected to the Casper City Council in 1996. During his term, he served on the Regional Water Board, as well as numerous other boards and committees. He enjoyed his work on the Council very much.
Rich's two passions in life were golf and travel. He was an avid golfer, playing in and winning numerous tournaments throughout the state. One of his fondest memories was playing twice in the Andy Williams Pro-Am in Pebble Beach with all the celebrities. Ill health forced him to discontinue playing golf, but he continued to love the sport. Rich loved to travel, taking numerous European vacations with his family. Rich had a true love of life. He enjoyed meeting people and experiencing different cultures. He was always planning the next "big adventure".
Rich is survived by his wife, Jan and daughter, Wendy of Casper and daughter Kris and son Kirk, from a previous marriage. He is also survived by two brothers, Phil (Jean) and Jim (Barb) and a sister, Patsy Brallier, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Rich will be remembered for his generous heart, his amazing sense of humor and his great zest for life. He was a devoted husband and father. He will be truly missed.
