Richard "Dick" Orval Mullison died October 23 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming after a short illness. He was 85 years old.
Dick was born in Shenandoah, Iowa on September 25, 1930 to Daisy Bernice (Adams) and Orval Harold Mullison. Dick's father died in 1933. While, his mother returned to teaching to support her family, Dick and his sister Shirley lived with extended family until Bernice married Elbert Lynn in 1937. They moved to Elbert's farm in Fremont County, Iowa where they joined Elbert's children from his first marriage, Betty, Chuck, and Jerry.
Dick enrolled in kindergarten at Central School in Shenandoah. After Bernice and Elbert's marriage he attended Alma Mater south of the farm where he graduated eighth grade in 1944. Dick graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1948.
After graduation, Dick farmed with Elbert. He was introduced to Lois Ardene Armstrong (on a blind date) by her sister Darlene and her husband Frank Manes.
Dick and Ardene married on August 14, 1949.Their children are Jodie (Ray) Genovese, Westfield, MA; Amy (Dan, deceased), Shenandoah, Iowa; Don (Anne), Lincoln, NE; Bob (Lucia), Greenwood, SC; Jane (Tom) Orth, Billings, MT; Peter (Felicia), Denver, CO; and Emily (Andy) Martinez. Casper, WY.
Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years, his children; thirteen grandchildren, Nicole (Sampson) and Marc Genovese; Phoebe (Pittman) and Sam Zollars; Cleo and Oliver Mullison; Sarah (McNeill) Mullison; Zach, Philip, and Joanna Orth; Emilie Mullison; Simon and Ava Rose Martinez; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
After retiring from Wyoming Family Practice, Dick volunteered at the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center. Dick enjoyed camping in the mountains of Wyoming, Coors light, reading, and pie (hot and cold).
