CASPER -- Services for Richard "Rick" E. Notestine, 62, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Fr. August Koeune officiating. Interment will be in Wyoming Memorial Gardens.
He died Jan. 28, 2008, at Central Wyoming Hospice.
He was born Oct. 12, 1945, in Great Bend, Kan., the son of John Sidney and Louise Mae (McKee) Notestine.
He grew up in Scott City, Kan.
He was barely 18 years old when he joined the Navy in 1963. He sang with the Navy Choir and was privileged to have sung at memorial masses around the country after President Kennedy's assassination.
He served aboard the U.S.S. Estebula from 1963-1967, serving in Vietnam.
Upon discharge, he attended Arapahoe Junior College in Englewood, Colo.
In 1970, he met and married Judy Henderson in Denver.
They were the proud parents of five children. He was happy to have shared in his children's achievements, including his 11 grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
In 1981, he moved to Casper and became a member of St. Patrick's Church, where he joined the church choir and had been a member since. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was devoted to his faith, his family and country and his love for them was beyond measure. He loved Wyoming and the lifestyle it offered.
Survivors include his wife of Casper, children, Kristen S. Notestine, Glenrock; Morgan Notestine, Casper; Ted Notestine, Rochester, Minn., and Katie Buffa, Casper; sisters and brothers, Sandra Cavenee, Tribune, Kan., John Notestine, Leoti, Kan., Vickie Notestine and Tim Notestine, both of Kissimee, Fla., 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, John Sidney Notestine III.
