CASPER n Memorial services for Richard Keith Lisco, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Lynn Williamson officiating.
He died May 16, 2007 at the Wyoming Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 11, 1925 in Columbus, Neb., the son of Robert and Cora Lisco. He graduated from Golden High School in Golden, Colo., and attended both the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Colorado, achieving degrees in civil and petroleum engineering.
He was accepted into the V-12 Naval Program and was proud to have served his country during World War II.
On Nov. 3, 1945, he married Barbara "Bobbie" Worth, which began a 61-year love story. As newlyweds, they traveled extensively working side by side on a seismograph crew, eventually settling in Casper to raise their three daughters.
In 1951, he founded Teton Exploration Drilling Company, which later became the worldwide exploration branch of the United Nuclear Corporation. He was considered a pioneer in the uranium industry and he and Teton were responsible for the development of "up reaming," a method that revolutionized drilling of large diameter holes in underground mining.
He was also a founder and officer of Lisco Enterprises, Basins Engineering, Mustang Oil Company and Steel Structures.
He served as president of the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce, was a co-chairman of the fund raising committee to build the Casper Family YMCA and served 16 years on the Casper College Board of Trustees.
His interests included hunting, fishing, gardening, golf and travel.
One of his mottoes was, "A family that plays together, stays together." His cabin at Alcova and ranch outside Casper will continue to be gathering places for his children and grandchildren throughout their lifetimes.
He is survived by his wife, brother, Corky and sister, Ruth Ann; his three daughters and their spouses; Cody Anderson, Kelly Taubert and Kim Fedore and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Robert and Lois.
He always believed education was the greatest investment one could make and he helped many young people in our community attend Casper College. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Casper College Foundation Dick Lisco Memorial Fund, 125 College Dr., Casper, 82601.
