Richard Garry Harper passed away December 27, 2013 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming. He was born to Reuben and Edna (Oliver) Harper December 29, 1942.
He grew up and attended school at Rocky Point, Wyoming until attending high school in Gilette, Wyoming.
In his younger years Richard was a truck driver for several local companies.
After being discharged from the Army in 1964 he married Mardelle Kelley. They lived for a time in Illinois before moving to Moorcroft, Wyoming in 1976 where he was employed by Amax Coal Co. for 16 years. After that they moved to Casper, Wyoming where he operated heavy equipment for Black Hills Bentonite until his passing.
He enjoyed traveling and bowling and his cats. Richard was a devoted family man and always put his family first above everything.
He leaves behind his wife of almost 50 years; a daughter, Michelle Reynolds; a son, Richard Harper, Jr.; a grandson, Christopher Harper and two granddaughters, Rozanna Harper and Rachael Harper.
Also two brothers, Willard (Virginia) Harper and Loyde (Brenda) Harper and many nieces and nephews. Two loving sisters-in-law, Evelyn Westwood in Illinois and Leslie Friebele in Oregon and three loving brothers-in-law, Bud Kelley of Illinois and Charles Kelley of Mesa, Arizona, and Larry Benson of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Jack (Iliene), Ralph (Leona), George (Betty) and 3 sisters, Ruby (John) Ballard, Ella (Bill) Denniston and Wanda (Jerry) Garland. He was a very likeable man and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home. The family requests no flowers, please.
