Richard Abel Rivera "Rick" was born on January 26, 1947 to Manuel R Rivera and Socorro Orta Rivera in Denver Colorado.
He was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico by his maternal grandparents. In 1966 he graduated from Valley High School where he was a standout football player, and FFA member.
In 1966 He enlisted in the United States Navy. While in the Navy he served on both the USS Essex and The USS America receiving a National Defense Service Medal.
Upon leaving the Navy He moved to Rawlins Wyoming, where he met and married Mary Ann Francis in 1969. In 1970 He went to work for Sinclair Pipeline Company, working there until taking a medical retirement.
In the prime of his life, he was an amateur boxer, part time cowboy, professional wrestler, stock car racer and a member of the Wyoming Army National Guard.
Rick was preceeded in death by his mother Socorro, Maternal Grandparents, his Brother Manuel "Gordy" Rivera and his father Manuel R Rivera.
He is survived by his sister Annabell Bowley of Albuquerque NM., his Sons Richard Rivera of Lander Wy, James Rivera of Casper WY. and his 3 Grandsons, Richard "Rooster" Rivera, Dawson "Smalls" Rivera and Mason "May May" Rivera all of Casper Wyoming.
