CASPER -- Services for Rhea Mae Christian Hill, 83, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Newcomer Family Funeral Home with Dr. Bryant Badger from First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Viewing is today from 3 to 6 p.m.
She died March 4, 2008, at Wyoming Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of Alfred Martin Christian and Florence May Gilbert.
She graduated from Oak Park River Forest H.S., and from University of Michigan with a degree in foreign languages .She was a member of the university band and Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
After college she became a flight attendant for Pan American Airlines, flying on Clipper Ships through out Central and South America and the Caribbean Islands.
She met her future husband, Roy Preston Hill Jr. a pilot, in Houston, and they were married Dec. 18, 1948. They moved to Denver with Gates Rubber, then to Casper to open the first Firestone Tire Store in 1950.
She worked for KVOC Radio for a time, then became a legal secretary for Robert Rose Jr.. She later became a founding officer with The Title Guaranty Company of Wyoming and then was a homemaker, raising three children.
She was active in the Service League, bridge clubs, an avid golf and tennis player, member of the Casper County Club, Casper Boat Club, University of Michigan Alumni Association, Tri Delta Alumni and an investment club.
She was actively involved in her children's and husband's activities.
She enjoyed extensive worldwide traveling with her long-time companion, Casper geologist Whitney Bradley, and spending time at her cabin at Alcova Lake.
Survivors include her children, Stephen Hill of Miami, Fla., Sally Horton of Amarillo, Texas and Stuart Hill of Casper; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roy.
Memorials may be made to Pheta Eta House Fund for Tri Delts @ UW; Casper College Foundation or Alzheimer's Association of Wyoming.
Newcomer Family Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
