Rena was born in Mobile, AL, Sept. 16, 1945 to Muriel and Warren Dausman. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1963. She attended Mobile Christian College for two years. She was president of the nurse's organization but realized she needed to change her career when she fainted at the sight of blood. She was also interested in becoming a librarian as she loved to read. In 1967, she married Lee Watts after his military service in the Army. Their first beautiful daughter, Kathy Gail, was born July 28, 1971. When Lee was offered a position at the Pacific Power Company in Casper, WY, they decided to make the move in 1973. In 1976, her #1 son, Jeremy Lee, entered the world on Thanksgiving Day, November 25th. The family was transferred to Green River, WY, in 1977. For the next 10 years, Rena devoted her life to raising her kids, volunteering at school events, managing a Christian bookstore, serving on church committees, teaching Sunday School, and hosting missionaries. In 1987, the family moved to Casper, WY, where she worked for the school district as an Occupational/Physical Therapy Aide for 20 years and loved helping students. She continued her involvement in the church and enjoyed attending the Christian and Missionary Alliance. After her retirement from the school district, she worked as a sales associate at R.W. Taubert's for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed her time spent with her co-workers as well as all of the new people she met.
Rena's primary focus was loving and serving her family, which included weekly Sunday lunches with fantastic Southern cooking. She rarely sat through an entire meal, as she was always ensuring that everyone had a full glass of sweet tea and food on their plate. These meals were meticulously planned so that they all involved a variety of color and that appropriate serving dishes were used, as any respectable Southern woman would never serve anything directly from the pot. Rena loved attending her grandchildren's (Gabe and Mariah's) many events and insisted that they were the best no matter the outcome of the competition. Some of her favorite past-times involved taking cruises with friends and family, ranging from Alaska to the Caribbean, and going on road trips to family events. Throughout her life, Rena would always be accompanied by a good paperback book, as reading from a screen was a thing of the future that she was not ready to accept. Proper visiting in Rena's home was a priority for her, which meant that televisions were not allowed in the living room so that she could give you her full attention. There was; however, a new puzzle on the coffee table to put together while visiting. She was always up for the challenge of a card or board game and wasn't afraid to join right in, no matter how rowdy the game got. Rena always thought ahead and was mindful to make sure that everyone felt included during holidays and gatherings. She was diligent in sending out cards and purchasing gifts for any event that arose. She was a true blessing to all that she met and she will be forever missed.
Rena is survived by her mother, Muriel Boykin; her husband, Lee Watts; her daughter, Kathy Heuer (Brent) and grandchildren Gabriel and Mariah; and her son, Jeremy Watts, all of Casper. She is preceded in death by her father, Warren Dausman.
