Ray S. Powders "RP", 59, of Casper, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 and was born in Denver, CO on May 11, 1955 to C.R. "Ray" Powders and Shirley Powders. He lived in Denver until the age of 14, when the family relocated to Casper. RP attended Dean Morgan JH, was in the 1973 graduating class at NCHS, and Casper College.
He was a member of the Casper Troopers when they won the national title in the early 1970's. RP was the general manager of Powders Automobiles for over 40 years, and during those years operated sales, parts and service. He spent all of his adult life in the automobile business in Casper doing what he truly loved. RP earned the designation of "Master Mechanic" after completing numerous courses over the years. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people, laughing and joking with them, and was almost always smiling.
An avid reader, RP was interested in learning and reading everything from fiction, to travel and history. RP loved animals, especially his two cats, Lola Mae and Izzy Louise, who were a constant joy in his life. RP met Tom Sisneros in Denver in 1990, and they lived together in Casper for more than 24 years.
He is survived by his partner, Tom Sisneros; father, Ray Powders; mother, Shirley Powders; sister, Cindy Powders; brother, Michael Powders; and his nephews, Matthew, Mark, and Thomas Powders. RP will be forever missed and never forgotten.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 4, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Donations may be made in RP's memory to the Casper Humane Society.
