Ralph Charles Garbutt, 86, passed away on February 4, 2013 at WMC surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 1, 1926 in Janesville, Wisconsin to Earl Thomas and Genevieve Regina (Cassidy) Garbutt.
Following graduation from Janesville High School in 1944, Ralph enlisted in the United States Navy serving as a gunner on the USS Princeton CV-37. In 1946 he returned to WI to attend Marquette University and Milton College; receiving a Bachelors of Science degree.
Ralph married the love of his life, Gloria Ruth McDowell on February 4, 1950 in Janesville. They were happily married for 34 years and his love for her continued all through his life. Their western adventure began in 1951 when Ralph joined the Wyoming Game & Fish Dept, retiring after 36 years. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Ralph enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. He was very involved with his children's school activities and was their greatest sports fan. Ralph was a man of conviction, known for his integrity and spirit.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and three siblings. Ralph is survived by his children Debra Huber, Kim (Teri) Garbutt, Vicky Ross, and Jim (Nancy Jo) Garbutt; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2:30pm, February 7th at Our Lady of Fatima. There will be a viewing from 5-7pm, February 6th at Newcomer Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Special Olympics Wyoming/Casper.
