Ralph "Leo" Foster
There will be a private celebration of life at a later date for longtime Casper resident, Ralph "Leo" Foster died on March 16, 2008, after a short illness at the Wyoming Medical Center. He was 92 years old. He was born in Casper on June 2, 1915 to Ralph Elmore Foster and Ethel Fredericka (Dolson) Foster. He spent most of his life in Casper but also lived in Billings, Montana, Deerfield, Florida and Great Falls, Montana. He attended Casper schools and completed the 11th grade at Natrona County High School.
He met his future wife, Mary Jane Brattis at a Christmas party in 1937. They married on October 18, 1941. They enjoyed camping and traveling until her death in 1995.
During World War II he served in the Army with the 9th Army detached to the 3rd Army under General Montgomery from 1943-1945. He then worked as a car painter and mechanic. He was the service manager for Plymouth Center and then Coliseum Motors from 1958 to 1976. After retiring he went to work for his brothers-in-law, Nick and John Brattis at Brattis Grocery. He helped out there until Brattis Grocery closed in 2006. He enjoyed making deliveries with his nephew and great-nephew.
Leo was especially fond of motorcycles and had a special Honda trike built for him by his good friend, Terry McCollum. He went to Sturgis for the first time in his late 80's. He received a plaque for being the oldest rider at the GWRRA, Wyoming Distict in Casper, WY in 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Frank Foster and his wife, Mary Jane. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by all who knew him. Memorials in his name can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
