R. James (Jim) Williams age 82, was born on December 1, 1939 in Winton, Minnesota to Ralph James and Esther Alice (Johnson) Williams. Jim completed his school years and attended junior college in Ely, Minnesota. Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in August 20, 1959 through August 19, 1963.
Jim married Teri Ann (Bochentin) Williams in 1964, in Yuma Arizona. They have two children, Jim Williams and Vicki Williams. Later they divorced and Jim married Mary-Leigh (Northrup) Williams on
November 10, 1975. Together they raised four children; Nancie Fink, of Glenrock, Wyoming, Wayne Hurte, of Santa Maria, California, Jim Williams of Glenrock, Wyoming and Vicki Williams, of Bismarck, North Dakota.
Jim spent most of his career in mining include time at Glenrock Coal and Pfizer Minerals in California. Jim was competitive in running, participating in many road races, including triathlons well into his 60's. Jim enjoyed the outdoors including many elk hunts with his son, Jim. He had a passion for his bird dogs and always had one by his side.
After retirement Jim and Mary-Leigh moved back to Wyoming and made Glenrock their home. Jim was very active in the community and several service organizations over the years, including the Converse
County #2 School Board, the Glenrock Recreation Board and the American Legion Jesse Martin Post #9.
Jim passed on June 15, 2022 at Wyoming Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Esther Williams.
He leaves behind Mary-Leigh Williams, their four children, 6 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren.
A celebration of life is planned at the Glenrock Cemetery on July 14 at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Rick Bishop officiating. A reception will follow at the Glenrock Senior Center.
