Paul Frederick Kratzer
Casper- At his request, no services will be held for Paul F. Kratzer, 82, who died at the Central Wyoming Hospice Saturday April 28, 2007. His cremains will rest in the Veteran's Cemetery in Evansville.
Paul was born in Central City, Iowa to Jay H. and Anna E. (Henderson) Kratzer on May 12, 1924. His father died when he was 4. He and two brothers and a sister were raised by their mother in Iowa. Paul graduated from high school in Manchester, Iowa. He worked in an aircraft factory in California prior to entering the U.S. Navy in 1943. He saw combat as a gunner's mate in the Pacific Theater aboard the heavy cruiser U.S.S. Portland. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Paul graduated with a degree in business from the University of Iowa in 1949. He then worked for Continental Insurance Company in Ohio, Illinois, and Wyoming for over 34 years. Upon retiring from Continental, he worked for Decker Auto Glass in Casper for 22 years.
Paul loved to travel throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. He skied and golfed until health precluded it.
Paul is survived by his brother Darrell J. Kratzer and his wife, Florine of St. Louis, MO, nephews Michael Kratzer of St Louis and Thomas Kratzer of Canton, OH and nieces Cynthia Kurtak of Edwardsville, IL and Sherrly Mahieu of Albuquerque, NM.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, a brother Merle Kratzer and a sister Betty Rasley.
Memorials may be made to the Central Wyoming Hospice or the Casper Humane Society in care of Newcomers Funeral Home, 710 E 2nd , Casper, WY 82601 which is in charge of arrangements.
