Patrick "Pat" Whittle Sr. passed away at his home Monday, June 25, 2012.
Pat was born February 11, 1938 in Chicago, IL to James and Kitty (Hogan) Whittle. He graduated in 1956 from Marquette High School in Yakima, WA. On March 9, 1957 he joined the Jesuit Society of Jesus and dedicated 23 years of his life to the Catholic Church. He was a faithful parishioner at St. Patrick's Church.
In 1980, he was released from his vows so he could marry the love of his life, Mimi Smartt. They were married May 10, 1980. They moved to Casper, WY to start their life together where they had two sons, PJ. and Andrew. Pat would take the boys on a trip every summer, always making sure to spend as much time with them as possible. His boys were his life and he would do anything for them. He was always helping them fix up their houses and other projects.
In 2000, he retired from Casper College after 19 years as an electrician, painter, and finally as a purchase manager. After retiring from the college he worked in the paint departments of Kmart and Home Depot. He always enjoyed a good project, especially if it involved painting. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and baking his famous cookies for the ladies at the bank and numerous friends. Everyone knew Pat for his delicious cookies that were usually still warm from the oven upon delivery.
He enjoyed spending most of his time taking care of his grandchildren, Anastasia, Bailey, and Xavier. Pat's grandchildren kept him going on ice cream trips, dance recitals, cookie deliveries, texting lessons, and many other adventures that he cherished. He will be dearly missed by all, but especially by his grandkids.
Pat is survived by his two sons, P.J. (Jolene) and Andrew (Kristie), grandchildren, Anastasia, Bailey, and Xavier, all of Casper; two sister-in-Iaws Barbara (Jim) and Darlene (Connie), both of WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mimi (Smartt) DePaolo, his parents, James & Kitty, brothers, Richard, Jim, and Connie Whittle and sister, Patsy Zachor as well as nieces and nephews.
