Patricia Aileen Holman

April 29, 1930 — December 3, 2023

Our Beautiful Mother, Patricia Aileen Holman, passed away on December 3, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born in 1930 in Tilton, IL, to Catherine Rachel (Hopkins) Pate and George Washington Pate. To say that she was a brilliant woman is an understatement. She was a lifelong learner. Growing up in the depression, World War II and post war years, an era when women seldom went to college, she embraced every opportunity to grow, travel and explore. Always fascinated by the science and medical fields she worked most of her 60 year career in medical records, starting at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Memorial Hospital in Danville and culminating as the Director of Transcription at Wyoming Medical Center for 18 years. She was instrumental in implementing the certification program for transcriptionists at Casper College. Even after retirement, she started an independent transcription service and continued to consult for the Casper College Program.

Patricia was the oldest of the six Pate children (Patty, Marjorie, Barbara, Larry, Kathleen, and Mary Josephine) and loved her siblings fiercely. Patricia met and married her best friend, Melton Holman, in 1962 in Dubois. They were married on Valentine's Day in 1964. There was an ever present magnet on their kitchen fridge with a couple passing the lid to the pot captioned "Every pot has its lid", this perfectly described their love for one another. Together they raised two daughters, Leah Holman and Holly Christensen. The four of them moved frequently and to say they were close-knit simplifies their life and adventures together. She dearly loved her family and her 7 grandchildren.

Patricia's talents were as vast as her curiosity. She was an avid reader and explorer. She was an incredible seamstress, cook, toll painter, jewelry maker, and whatever else she might want to try her hand at. When it came to learning something new, "no" was never a word in her vocabulary. Her tenacity was her strong suit. As children, we would ask what a word meant, her reply was always, "go look it up in the dictionary".

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Melton, her mother and father Catherine Pate and George Pate and her brother "bro", Larry Pate of Casper, WY and sister Marjorie Nichols of Riverton, Wyoming. She is survived by her two daughters, Leah Holman of Riverton, Wyoming and Holly Christensen (Dan Christensen) of Casper, Wyoming, Sisters Barbara Ward (Bill Ward) of Venice, FL, Kathleen Newman (Art Newman) of Dubois, WY, Mary Jo Pogliano (Michael Pogliano) of Denver, Colorado. Her grandchildren, Davis Odell (Bonnie Odell) of Casper, WY, Madeline Odell of Manchester, NH, Siri Christensen, Casper, WY, Stephen Christensen, Casper, WY, Garrett Birch, Austin, TX, Gavin Birch, Wasilla, AK and Lily Birch, Plymouth MN.

Gifts can be made to Central Wyoming Hospice 319 South Wilson, Casper, WY 82601. Patricia is buried next to her husband, Melt, at the Oregon Trails Cemetery in Casper, Wyoming.

A celebration of Patricia's life will be held in the Spring in Casper, Wyoming.
