Patricia Joanne Cardinal

June 29, 1935 — October 12, 2020

Patricia Joanne Murphy Cardinal has gone to her eternal home. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family from kidney failure on October 12, 2020 at the age of 85. She was born on June 29, 1935 in Vincennes, IN.

She graduated from St. Rose Academy in Vincennes, ID as a member of the National Honor Society and Valedictorian of her class. She also graduated number one in her class from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Evansville, IN. She also worked as clinical instructor there.

Pat Cardinal moved to Casper, WY in 1958 and attended Casper College where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. In August 1961, Pat married Norman Edward "Edd" Cardinal at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She has been employed as a nurse at Wyoming Medical Center, as an office nurse for doctors' Oliver Scott and Rover Fowler and for 20 years at the City of Casper-Natrona County Health Department as a well-child Educator as well as Liaison with other community agencies. For a period she functions as interim director of nurses for the health department.

For ten years, Pat had a monthly health article published in the Wyoming Rural Electric New Magazine. She was also published in several other publications. She had many religious articles published in the Wyoming Catholic Register Newspaper. Pat was one of the organizers and volunteer teachers of the St. Anthony's Catholic Sunday preschool program and elementary religious program. She was a member and officers of the St. Anthony's Altar and Rosary Society, a member and officer of the Wyoming State Council of Catholic Women and a Charter Member of the Bishops Guild. She was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Pat retired in 2000 and with her husband spent the winter in Florida for 14 years where they enjoyed the nice weather, good friends and were able to attend live music gatherings every night. Her various interests included: rock hounding, arrowhead hunting, square dancing, sightseeing, reading, bowling, camping and spending time at Alcove Lake and attending live music gathering. Her family was her greatest achievement and she was very proud of them. She always wished them love, joy, and happiness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Minnie Murphy, sister, Peggy Peak, and a granddaughter, Brooke Noel Cardinal.

She is survived by her husband, Norman Edd Cardinal, sisters, Micky (Dean) Wood, Danny (Joe) Crane and Terry (Havyn) Bradley, brother, Stephen (Lillian) Murphy and by her children Joseph (Deena), Eddie (Dana), Anne (Chris), David (Dawn), Debbie and Nick. She also has 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Pat has chosen cremation. Her ashes will be returned to the ground where they can nourish and replenish the earth.

A private service will be at the State Veterans Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
