Patricia Ann Boyer, 90, of Casper, WY, passed away on March 30, 2024.
Patricia was born on February 13, 1934, to Marvin and Leslye Adams in Saint Paul, Minnesota. After graduating with a master's in social work, she spent the rest of her life in the helping profession. Her many accomplishments include but are not limited to achieving legislation for Mental Health licensing in the State of Wyoming. Pat was one of the founders and directors of the Social Work Program at the University of Wyoming and the University of Wyoming - Casper. Her illustrious career at the University of Wyoming lasted from 1970 until 2000. Pat also taught at Highland University in New Mexico She was the first president of the Wyoming Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Pat also founded the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Casper Branch and the Casper Youth Crisis Center. Pat was a counselor at Mercer House, The Healing Place, and her private practice, Family Counseling Associates. She did a considerable amount of counseling for the Department of Family Services programs and facilitated adoptions with Connecting Hearts. Developing Adult & Teen Challenge Wyoming Women with Children Center (Casper) was her final project as she had a heart for people suffering with addiction and their families.
In 1968, Patricia married the love of her life, Edward Clair Boyer. Together they spent their time traveling, teaching, and spreading the love that God filled them with to others. They cherished people and established solid lifelong friendships. Both were well known for their love of Native American jewelry and art.
Pat was also a member and active in the ministries of Highland Park Community Church. She established a comforting and inviting prayer room in the new building.
Pat was a loving and giving person who encouraged and supported the students who passed through her classrooms. Her strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ sustained her through the physical challenges that she encountered during her life. She shared her faith and how she had been blessed at every opportunity.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents, her sister Judy and her beloved husband Edward Clair. Mourning Patricia's death are her stepsons – Allen (Bernice) of Rural Valley, PA, Charles of Rural Valley, PA, and Dennis (Vickie) of Rural Valley, PA and Sarasota, FL; grandsons Brian (Noel) of PA, Tom (Chrissie) of Numine, PA nieces Stefanie (Jeff) Corneliusson, Hawley Minnesota and Paige (Steven) Rezac, great nieces Alex and Taylor, great nephew Scott (Leah), friends, former associates, and students. She is also survived by Cathie Christie, a friend to both Pat and Clair, for over 40 years. In addition to being a trusted and loyal friend and companion, she has been Pat's caregiver.
Services will be held at Bethel Baptist Church 3030 S. Poplar, Casper, WY on April 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Adult & Teen Challenge Wyoming in the care of Bethel Baptist Church, an organization Patricia felt strongly about and dedicated the last few years of her life to.
