Oscar Ray was born June 25, 1925 in Casper, Wyoming to Earl and Alice Ray and lived in Casper his entire life. He died May 3, 2009. On February 12, 1944 he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Foote. Oscar received a pharmacy degree from the University of Wyoming in 1950. He was a much beloved
and well known business owner with his wife Betty for over 50 years in Casper. He was awarded many awards for his outstanding service as a pharmacist
in the state and across the country including the Bowl of Hygeia, which is a national award and is the most prestigious award that a pharmacist can receive. Oscar was in the Navy in World War II and served in the South Pacific as a corpsman.
He is survived by his son, Tom and his wife Shirley;
daughters, Jerilyn Shelley and her husband Herb, Jana Stotler and her husband Tom, and Marla Skelley and her husband Paul. A son, Bruce Ray; preceded him in death in 1996. Oscar had nine grandchildren, Jeannie Martinson, Jon Ray, Jason Roberts, Jordan Roberts, Megan Shelley, Caitlyn Shelley, Daniel Shelley, Erin Skelley, Elizabeth Skelley; and seven great grandchildren.
Oscar was known for his wonderful smile, his kindness to his friends, family, and customers, and the humble and generous way that he lived his life. His wife and children, grandchildren, great grandchildren
and friends will miss him every day.
The service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Casper on Wednesday May 6, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Primrose Retirement Community at 1865 S. Beverly in Casper.
