Noel Obit:
Funeral services will be held for Noel Donnell Severts on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 7th and Missouri Streets.
Noel Donnell Severts, beloved husband of Marla Severts and father of Tiffany Severts Williams and Minette Severts and grandfather of Devon Noelle Williams has passed quietly away surrounded by family and loved ones at his home in Casper, Wyoming on June 12, 2010, after a most valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease. Noel is the son of Lillian Severts Farmer of Las Vegas, NM and Donnell Edward Severts, who preceded him in death. His brother Ward Severts has also preceded him in death, but he is survived by Janiel Severts Paris and Mark E. Severts of Las Vegas, NM and Cori Severts Child of Chino, California and their respective children.
Noel was the first child born to Donnell E. Severts and Lillian Wohlgemuth Severts in Bryan, Texas on Christmas day, December 25 of 1947. The family moved to Casper, Wyoming shortly thereafter and Noel has spent the majority of life here in Casper, other than the period of time that he served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Central States Mission, from which he received an honorable release.
Noel attended schools in the Casper area and also attended Casper College. In 1968 he met his best friend and eternal companion in this life and the next, Marla Hough Severts and married her on May 9, 1969. They were later sealed together for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 22, 1970. They were blessed with two daughters, Tiffany and Minette, and devoted themselves to living and serving the Casper area. He has always been a kind and loving husband, father, friend, brother, and son.
Noel has always been a hard worker. He never knew any other way than complete devotion to whatever task he performed--whether service to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, or providing a living for his family. He was dependable to a fault. He could always be counted upon.
Noel spent his life as a heavy equipment operator in some of the largest open pit ore mines throughout Wyoming. His daily commute was often almost as long as his hours on the job. He loved the opportunity to provide for his family while working outside. He enjoyed the autonomy of operating the large heavy equipment in the mines. He took great pride in always doing a job well.
Noel's greatest pleasure in this earthly life was his family. He was a wonderful husband and father and grandfather. One of the sweetest opportunities of this life was that of being grandfather to Devon Noelle Williams, who was named for her grandfather. The priceless relationship that he shared with her over the years brought him innumerable sweet memories and loving experiences.
Noel spent his entire life being obedient to his Savior, Jesus Christ and in His gospel. He was the measure of a
good, quiet man. He taught all, by example, how to be gracious in every circumstance. He will be missed and his passing has created a void in the hearts of his family members and those who knew him and have been made better individuals through association with him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions at 319 South
Wilson Street, Casper, WY 82601 or by calling 307-577-4832.
