Nina L. Adams, of Casper, went to be with her Lord Aug. 10, 2009 at her home, two days short of her 80th birthday.
She was born Aug. 12, 1929 in Anaconda, Montana, the daughter of John and Martha Lovell Johnson. She attended schools in North Dakota and graduated from Packwood High School in Ottumwa, Iowa in 1947. She came to Casper by train in 1949 and was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone Company and then the J.C. Penny Company where she met the love of her life, Max Adams. They were married Sept. 14, 1951 and made their life together in Casper. She was employed briefly at Socony Mobile Oil Company until her first child was born. She was a lover of life and enjoyed a wide variety of activities with family and friends. She had a flair for making family get-togethers extra special and was famous for her potato salad in the summer and her stuffing for holiday meals. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and donated her time to their Thrift Shop and was a volunteer at the Wyoming Medical Center Gift Shop. Nina was at her happiest when she was in service to others and would always make herself available to family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Turner and her husband John of Casper , Rhonda Bushmaker and her husband John of Richland, WA, and a step-daughter, Polly Ann Hartnek of Casper. There are four grandchildren, Max Turner and wife Kara, J. Ryan Turner, Corey and Michael Bushmaker and a great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Turner. Three brothers, Harold, Howard and Jim and their wives and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two sisters, Ruth Maser and Dorothy Bettencourt.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating with a reception following. Cremation will follow under the direction of Newcomer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Wyoming Hospice.
