June peacefully joined the Lord on February 4th at Central WY Hospice. She was born June 1, 1920 in Casper to Jacob and Margaret (Story) Sonnenfelt and was a life-long resident of Casper. She attended McKinley School and NCHS. In 1940, June graduated from Hall's Beauty School and worked at Deluxe and Beech Street Beauty shops prior to her marriage to Clifford W. Beatty in 1941.
She was an elder and deacon at Winter Memorial Presbyterian Church, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and enjoyed Busy Bees. She was one of the original Willing Workers at First Christian Church as well as a senior volunteer at Central WY Senior Center when that program first began. An active school mom, June was a room mother and president of PTA at Roosevelt Elementary School. She was a part-time rural-mail carrier on the Raderville and Shoshoni routes, worked at Cook's Potato Chip factory, did machine embroidery on bowling shirts and just loved to play bingo.
A devoted, loving wife, mother and grandma, June was a terrific friend who was always willing to jump in to help. A talented artist, she shared her skills with several fund-raising groups. Her children will always remember the childhood stories June would create about Tick, Tack and Butterball.
June will be greatly missed by her survivors: daughters, Darlene Arthur and Ellen Jervis of Casper and Gale (Joe) Verow of Gilbert, AZ; one son, Cliff (Virginia). Beatty, Jr. of Casper; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren,
a great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford Beatty, Sr.; her sisters, Fern Goode and Velda Phegley of Casper and a brother, Rex Sonnenfelt of Roy, UT. Flowers or donations to Central WY Hospice or Central WY Senior Center will be equally appreciated by the family.
