Nellie "Ruth" Miller, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior having died peacefully in her home with family members present on Tuesday July 7, 2009. Ruth was baptized as a young child into the Evangelical Church. She had battled cancer for several years.
Ruth was born on July 6, 1919 in Hyndman, Pennsylvania to George and Carrie Oster. Ruth married Lawrence E Miller May 23, 1936 in Ellerslie, Maryland. She became a homemaker. She is survived by her son Larry A Miller and wife JoEllen of Casper; daughter Sharon McCrimmon and husband Ron of Loveland, CO; daughter Norma Parker and husband Jim of Casper; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Carrie Pfitzenmayer of Ellerslie Maryland and may loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E Miller in 1985, great-grandchildren Matthew Leager and Joshua Miller and her parents George and Carrie Oster, brothers Clifton and Herbert Oster, sisters, Cleo Clark, Ruby Scritchfield and Kathleen Beal.
Ruth and Lawrence moved to Casper around the time of the 1949 blizzard. She and her husband belonged to the Mavericks Square Dance Club for years. She also belonged to a Pinochle Club, Bridge Club and a coffee group. Ruth helped deliver for meals on wheels for 25 years and volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Hospital and worked with her church in the basement sales. She and Lawrence traveled to Mexico, Hawaii and many of the United States. She was a loved mother with many friends that she also loved and will be missed by all. A big thank you to Hospice and Transitions for their sharing and care these last few weeks. Ruth made it to her goal of 90 years.
Visitation will be held Saturday July 11, 2009 from 1 to 5 PM with funeral services Sunday at 2 PM in Newcomer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Charity of Choice in her name.
