Milo J."Dusty" Rhodes

September 24, 1928 — February 5, 2016

A memorial celebration for the life of Milo "Dusty" Rhodes of Casper will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at the College Heights Baptist Church (upper chapel).

Dusty entered his heavenly rest on Feb. 5 at the Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions after a lengthy illness.

He was born on September 24, 1928 on his mother's birthday in Dresden, KS. He was the youngest of 7 children born to Milo and Edna Rhodes. He grew up in Dresden and attended school there. He entered the Army and served from '51-'57, being stationed in Japan and Korea during the Korean War. After leaving the Army, he began working in the oil and uranium exploration field. He worked in Venezuela, South America for 20 months.

His work eventually took him to Farmington, NM where he met Darlene Foster. They were married in Farmington on May 7, 1957. During his career they lived in NM, OK, ND, WY, CO, UT and MT, until settling in Riverton, WY in '64, and eventually moving to Casper in '74.

Dusty enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, and wood-working, making furniture pieces and other items for family and friends. He loved watching all types of sports, but especially enjoyed watching the Broncos, Nuggets and Rockies games.

Over the years, he was involved in numerous outreach ministries through the churches he was a member of, including a half-way house ministry, an outreach to Spanish-speaking people, a benevolence ministry, and a member of the foreign missions committee. He was also a founding board member of Joshua's Storehouse, a community food bank, and volunteered there for several years until his declining health forced him to stop.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughters Catherine, (Lee) Black of Murray, UT; Barbara (Jim) Gale of Evansville, WY; Beverly (Jacques) Blackwell of Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Tonya Baker of Summerset, SD; Leona (Jason) Bartsch of Elkins, MD; Sheila (Kenn) Woodden of St. George, UT; and son, Nathan (Regina) Rhodes of Summerset, SD; 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grand children, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Doren and Delbert; sisters Helen, Nelda, Dorothy and Georgialea; and infant sons Milo Darren ('68) and Michael Dean ('76).

Because of his heart for missions, Dusty requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Outreach Jamaica, P.O. Box 2473, Mills, WY 82644
