Miles J. "Todd' Davis died peacefully at his home in Casper, surrounded by his family, Friday, December 11, 2015. Todd loved the people in his life: he loved telling and hearing stories (many of which were true), he was always ready to laugh and share a drink, he liked golf better than it liked him, and he wanted to be remembered with a proper party.
After a Celebration of Life at St. Mark's Church at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17, a reception will be held at the Casper Country Club. Todd was born February 23, 1930 in Gillette, Wyoming, the youngest son of Leroy "Jerry" and Gladys Davis. He graduated from Campbell County High School in 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served a tour on the U.S.S. Midway in Fighter Squadron 42 under Alan Shepard, Executive Officer. After his discharge, he married Marjorie Lee Brandner May 2, 1953, and enrolled at the University of Wyoming, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree under Donald L. "Blackie" Blackstone in 1956. He worked extensively in the Powder River and Bighorn Basins, and in the latter he discovered and helped develop the Lamb Dome oil and gas field.
Todd was predeceased by his brother Jerry and sister Evelyn Deaver. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, and sons, Jeff and Joel, and his daughter-in-law, Stacy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Todd's favorite charity, the Salvation Army.
