Mildred Kisic

Mildred "Mid" Katherine Kisic
Mildred "Mid" Katherine Kisic was born in Connellesville, PA on July 13, 1927 and grew up in Hillside, PA. She transcended to Heaven Oct. 3, 2009 after being hospitalized at the Wyoming Medical Center.
On Nov. 27, 1951 she married John Nanwosky. They were married 27 years before they divorced, yet remained close. Together they owned and operated World-Wide Moving and Storage Company in Miami, FL. Mid also managed a health food store and renovated homes for sale. Most recently Mid worked at several retail stores in Thermopolis as she worked into her 80's.
Survivors include her daughters Lisa Blakesley of Thermopolis, WY and Linda Nanowsky of Fort Worth, TX, son Charles Nanowsky of Alizheim, Germany. A sister, Carolyn Burke of Miami, FL and brother Charles Kisic of Bradenville, PA. A step-daughter, Juanita Nanowsky of Syracuse, NY. Mid is also survived by three grandchildren, Marshall Bridges of Spokane, WA, Julia Blakesley of Thermopolis and Eric Nanowsky of Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Eleanor Kisic, a sister, brother and an infant sister.
At the direction of her father Mijo all five of the children played in the family orchestra. They played traditional Croation/Tamburitzen folk music at weddings, parties and even on a weekly radio program; all of which helped cover the families needs surviving the depression.
During WWII Mid was called into action against the Axis Powers; enthusiastically becoming a "Rosie-the-Riveter" and helped manufacturing airplane parts.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling, creating with her hands, while possessing a deep hunger for enriching and honoring her spiritual growth. Throughout her lifetime Mid's family, and all the people she embraced throughout the community were her passion and joy. Mid had an art for bringing heart and love to all of her friendships, family; with an acquired wisdom that knew full well what truly matters in this life, and acted on this knowledge with all her heart. People became Mid's garden as her years progressed and the flowers outside her door became more difficult to tend: a new garden she always had time to water with her love, warmth, sparking eyes and well placed words that understood their power to heal and bless. Mid moved to Thermopolis at the end of 1989 to help with raising her grandson, then a granddaughter, she began a new life in the land of the healing waters. Mid will be missed. The first snow of the year covers the soil her hands used to till. This is the time that we remember the gardner that connects our lives, and how much richer our lives are because of her tender hand.
Cremation has taken place and memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
