The youngest of three children, Mickey Ray Best was born on August 4, 1951 to Acel Ezra Best and Hattie (Juanita) Best in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Mickey served in the United States Marine Corp.
In 1976 he married Geri Jones and they had a son Jason, whom he loved to go hunting with in the fall seasons. He also enjoyed coaching little league baseball when Jason played. In 1979, Mickey and Geri had a daughter, Keri. Some of the most special times he shared with Keri was when she was his caretaker during his lengthy illness. Mickey and Geri later divorced. He worked various jobs over the years until ill health forced his retirement.
He enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour books and watching old movies on TV. He was adamant about watching "The Ten Commandments" each year. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son. He is survived by his son, Jason Best (Muffy) and his daughter Keri Best Jenkins (Zac Long), his best friend, Carl Roybal, a brother Tom Best (Della)a sister Acellia (Sue) (Gary)Slagle, five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Center in Casper, Wyoming.
