Michael Anthony Schmidt (Schmidty), 56, of Casper, WY and also of Lead, SD passed away on March 7th, 2022 in Lead, SD.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am March 16th, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Casper. The procession and burial will follow to the Highland Cemetery. There will be a reception at the Elks Club of Casper at 12pm for those who wish to join us in celebrating his life. Preceding the funeral there is a public viewing being held at Newcomers Funeral home starting at 9:00 am.
Mike was born in Casper to Harold and Helen Schmidt on August 9th 1965. He attended and graduated school in Glendo, WY before moving back to Casper where he enrolled in Casper College. From there he met his future wife Pamela Sue Adams and on March 12, 1988 the two of them were married in St. Anthony's church. Mike and Pam shared four wonderful children, who in turn provided them with grandchildren that he just adored.
Growing up he helped work on the family ranches in Glendo and then outside of Bill, WY. He worked for Amoco Pipeline for a number of years, he also had experience in construction and maintenance, involving all aspects of home renovation and repair. He enjoyed working with computers and small electronics. In turn, Mike was a tinkerer, not so much as a hobbyist but would love to repurpose items. He could always be found in his garage or shop area messing with projects that he had started.
Mikes' personality was very outgoing, with a great sense of humor. His random facts and interesting stories could attract crowds where he was able converse with almost anyone. He was involved in the Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus organization , where he had attained the honor of a Fourth Degree Grand Knight. He had volunteered with the fire department in Glendo while he resided there. In Casper, Mike was involved with the Hole in the Wall Caving Grotto, where his joy of geology and rocks came out. Hiking, visiting and exploring cave systems throughout Wyoming and neighboring states. Another community Mike was known to help out was the local darting organization. Schmidty and his family would help out with tournaments and local leagues. Later in life Mike and Pam would move up to Lead, SD where they started a new adventure together until his untimely death.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Helen Schmidt, his in-laws Robert and Jacque Adams, and son Anthony Schmidt.
Mike is survived by wife; Pamela Schmidt, children all of Casper, WY: Matthew Schmidt (Jacklyn), Veronica Sulzen (Christopher), Johnathon Schmidt (Katherine), Christopher Schmidt (Candice). Brother: James Schmidt of Sheridan, WY, and sister: Janet Edgecomb of Bullhead City, AZ. Grandchildren: Delaynee, Adisyn, Jarrett, Theodore, David. including numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
