Melvyn Curtis James, 78, of Casper, passed away June 16, 2011 at his residence.
He was born Aug. 1, 1932 in Kanarado, Kansas the son of Lowell and La Veda Mae Goatley James.
He was united in marriage to Beverly Hartnett Aug. 10, 1954 in Lusk, WY. He was employed in the oil and gas industry for many years and he retired from the Wyoming Oil and Gas Commission. Melvyn enjoyed hunting, fishing, leather work and camping. He had a love for animals, especially his dog Windy.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly, four sons, John and his wife Lisa of Pindale, WY, Rick of Palm Springs, CA, Donnie of Casper, and Cody and his wife Charlette of Casper, 4 granddaughters, Janell, Julie, Melissa and Jewliana, a great-granddaughter, Kylee and one sister, Marcene Ray of Falon, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Vicki, a great-granddaughter, Sydnee, two brothers, Maurice James and Michael James, and two sisters, Maxine Koons and Connie Tucker.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 23, 2011, 11:00 AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Matney officiating. Graveside services will be Friday, June 24, 1:00 PM at The Lusk Cemetery, Lusk, WY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Life Care Activity Fund.
