Melton Holman passed peacefully at Hospice on April 15, 2011 at the age of 91. For those of us who had the privilege of knowing this remarkable man, he will be sorely missed.
He was born and raised in Texas and served his country in World War II in the Army Air Corp. He moved to Wyoming as a young man and although he lived in many places, Wyoming was the home in his heart. He met his beloved wife Patricia after 44 years of bachelorhood. Together they raised two daughters and he devoted the rest of his life to their happiness.
He lived a life that exemplified what kindness, integrity and character are all about. He lived by the Golden Rule and there were no strangers, only potential new friends. His legacy to his grandchildren is his love of nature, fishing and enjoying good friends and family.
Melton is preceded in death by his father, James Holman, mother, Lula Holman and brother, Jim Holman. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Leah Holman and Holly Christensen; son-in-laws Curt Birch and Dan Christensen; seven grandchildren, Davis, Madeline, Siri, Stephen, Garrett, Gavin and Lily; and sisters-in-laws, Kathy Newman, Riverton, WY, Marjorie Nichols, Riverton, WY, Mary Jo Pagliano, Denver, CO, and Bobbie Ward, Danville, ILL.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the Oregon Trail Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice per the family's request.
