May Thompson Stewart, 88, of Evansville, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017.
She was born January 16, 1929 on the family farm in Riverton, WY to Anna and Joe Thompson. She was the fourth of 8 children.
May graduated from Riverton High School in 1947. She graduated from the University of WY, taught in rural schools in Hiland, Hat Six, Deer Creek and Boxelder. May taught for 30 years, including her own 4 children.
May met Stan Stewart while teaching at Hiland School. They were married May 21, 1950. They ranched for 60 years and raised their 4 kids in Deer Creek Park. She was an active member of Natrona County Cowbelles. May always enjoyed hunting, fishing, and ranching. She loved traveling, UW Cowboys and Denver Broncos!
May is survived by four children: Joy (Boog) Kennedy of Elk Mtn., Cody (Donna) Stewart of Newcastle, Jan (John) Barber of Reno, NV and Wes (Tammie) Stewart of Casper. She has 30 grandkids, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandkids! She is also survived by her husband of 67 years, Stan, two sisters; Jane Napier of Riverton, Anita Hashberger of Riverside, CA, and many nieces and nephews.
May was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, numerous nephews, a niece and a grandson.
The family would appreciate donations be made to Central WY Hospice in May's name.
No services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
