May Dewell

A celebration of life for May Dewell,77, will be held at Word Christian Fellowship on Friday, January 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Carlin officiating.

May went home to the Lord on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Wyoming Medical Center.
She was born to Joe and Anne Huddleston on November 14, 1932, in Fromberg, MT. She graduated high school in Joliet, MT, class of 1950, and furthered her adult education in Wyoming, earning degrees in nursing and teaching.

May married Herbert Dewell on November 23, 1950.

Most affectionately known as Granny Dewell, May was the matriarch of her family. She was intelligent, respected, and a little bit feisty as evidenced by her first tattoo in her seventies! Granny could be counted on to remember everyone's birthday, anniversary or other special events. She could always be found at a dance recital, music program, play, or a sporting event for her great-grandkids.

May's hobbies included sewing, gardening, reading, and traveling. Following each high school graduation, the grandkids received a specially made, hand-sewn quilt. She was a master gardener and spent every waking moment of the summer in her flower garden. You could not resist a peek at the abundant flowers in her yard each year. Granny was well-read and educated in various topics. If you wanted to know something about anything, call Grandma! Throughout her life, May liked to travel to places like Europe, Nova Scotia, and more recently, to a family reunion in Oklahoma where she had the chance to see her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren together for the first time in years.

She loved attending her Sunday school class, learning about God's Word, and greeting friends during the service.

May was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son-in-law, Jack.

She is survived by her sister, Joann Lifshin, of Brooklyn, NY; four children: Jim Dewell of Monument, NM, Rickie (Foote) Hodgden, of Enid, OK, Becky Anderson and Mike Dewell (Debbie), both of Casper; eleven grandchildren: Sean, Frankie, Billie Jo, Jennifer, Vista, Gabe, Miranda, Afton, Holly, Destiny, and Hope; and 15 great-grandchildren with another due in April.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels.

Newcomer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
