Maxine Frances (Vermillion) Hoggatt
Maxine Frances (Vermillion) Hoggatt, 89, of Evansville, passed away peacefully at Central Wyoming Hospice June 7, 2017. Maxine was born February 7, 1928 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Paul "Red" and Mary (Mead) Vermillion. On July 7, 1945, she married Emery Leroy Hoggatt in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Their first child, Gary, was born in 1947, Jack in 1949, Judy in 1953, and David in 1962. They traveled throughout their lives with the oilfield but mostly found themselves between Colorado and Wyoming of which they spent the last 42 years in Evansville.
Maxine was the matriarch of her family - a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. It was often hard to know when one role ended and another started. She cared deeply about her faith and for her family and friends. She was well known for putting others needs above her own. She was a woman of strong convictions and didn't hesitate to protect those convictions with that redhead flare. The Hoggatt household was always busy and you always felt at home and Maxine loved to woo her family and friends with her elaborate meals. It was sometimes hard to tell the difference between a holiday dinner and lunch for the men in her life. Maxine was also very active throughout her life and always found a hobby that she wholeheartedly engaged. She was very creative and some of her favorite hobbies were arrowhead hunting, rock collecting, gardening, toll painting and most importantly finding a bargain. She will be deeply missed and well-remembered by all those who dearly loved her.
Maxine was preceded in death by her father, Paul, mother, Mary, husband, Emery, daughter, Judy, brothers, Lloyd and Baby Vermillion, sister, Dorothy, and uncle, Bill.
She is survived by her three sons, Gary (Marci) Hoggatt, Jack (Glenda) Hoggatt, and Dave Hoggatt, sisters, Colleen (Deloss) Proctor, Mary (Milt) Mathis, Betty Martinez, grandchildren, Darby, Tabetha, Kammi, Kellee, Lexie, Ashley, Logan, Erika, Cody, Michael, and Josh, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
