Marybelle Van Buren Frederick
CASPER -- A graveside service is pending for former Worland resident Marybelle Van Buren Frederick, 88.
She died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at the Life Care Nursing Home in Casper.
Born Jan. 22, 1917, at Burrton, Kan., to Roland and Ruby Van Buren, she was one of five children. She graduated from Burrton High School and attended Hutchinson Business College.
On May 3, 1935, she married Francis Howard Frederick. They lived in many places in Kansas and Nebraska before moving to Worland in 1952. There, they raised two daughters and a son. They owned a Dairy Queen, a Texaco service station and a Firestone Hardware store.
She was the church secretary at the Worland Methodist Church for many years before working at the office of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, retiring from that position in 1978.
She was a member of the St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Worland, Daughters of the Nile and Chapter AH PEO Sisterhood.
She moved to Casper in 1997 to be near her family.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sheila Connell and her husband of Littleton, Colo., and Sue Hoag and her husband of Casper; son Dean Frederick of Casper; three sisters, Elvina Shields of Bella Vista, Ark., Rebecca Key of Mesa, Ariz., and Marjie Bishop of Canyon Lake, Calif.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild and one brother.
