Mary Lena Seifert, 86, of Casper, passed away March 20, 2009 at Wyoming Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 26, 1923 in Jefferson County, CO, the daughter of John C. and Matilda A. Noll Smith. She graduated from Edgewater High School in Edgewater, CO in 1941. She was united in marriage to Roy D. Seifert in Jan. 20,1951 in Denver, CO. She was first employed in Civil Service in the War Dept. in Denver, CO during World War II. She was then employed at Smith Welding and Engineering Company in Denver, CO. Mrs. Seifert was then employed as a tax examiner for the IRS in Ogden, UT and then worked as a secretary for Quality Control at McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita, KS until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Central Christian Church in Wichita, KS. She loved to play the piano, playing by ear, folk dance and travel. She had a green thumb and enjoyed plants and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Roy of Casper; daughters Christine Morales and husband Michael of Durango, CO; Karen Trohkimoinen and husband John of Casper; granddaughters, Kristen and Lauren Trohkimoinen; sister, Della M. Smith and her husband Earl of Canyon Lake, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ina Belle Smith.
Memorial services will be Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 3:30 PM at Park Place Apartments Chapel. A memorial service in Denver, CO will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Casper Humane Society, 849 East E. St., Casper, WY 82601 Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Newcomer Funeral Home.
