Mary Alice Mertz

December 20, 1941 — July 12, 2021

Mary Alice Mertz went to meet Jesus on July 12, 2021. She was reunited with family members, as well as her beloved dogs, Muffy and Ziggy.

Mary was born to Raymond and Ida Knill on December 20, 1941 in Rock Springs, WY.

Mary worked for the State of Wyoming, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation for 25 years before retiring in 2013. During her years with the State, Mary was very involved in the political arena, helping several candidates with their campaigns. Mary was also very involved with Highland Park Community Church. She loved Jesus with all her heart. Mary decided retirement was not for her. Consequently, she went to work as an office/billing manager at the Healing Place Counseling Ministry at Highland Park Community Church. She worked daily and passionately until she became ill and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer two weeks before she moved to Heaven. She will be greatly missed.

Mary and Jim Boreing were married in 1962. The couple later divorced. Mary was blessed with two sons, Corey and Brett Boreing. They were the light of her life. However, her grandchildren were her shining stars – Cade, Sutton, Kristopher, Brooklyn, Bella, and Brielle.

Mary met David Mertz in 1998 and they married in 2001. They were blessed with 20 years together before her passing.

Mary is survived by her husband, sons, grandchildren, and sister, Nancy Platt.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Zella and Ruth.

A memorial service will be held at Highland Park Community Church on July 31st at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, Mary requests donation be made to Central Wyoming Hospice, the Casper Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society.
