On March 31, 2012 Mary Lou passed peacefully at Central Wyoming Hospice, surrounded by her loved ones. Once again reunited with her soul mate.
She was born on Feb. 17th, 1932 in Gebo, Wyoming to Antonio and Grace (White) Pisto. She grew up in and graduated from high school in Thermopolis, Wyoming. She attended Carroll College and the Sisters of Charity School of Nursing in Billings, Montana having graduated with her RN nursing degree in 1953. It was there in Montana where she met the love of her life, Royce. They were married on April 2nd, 1955 and lived in Casper for the rest of their lives. They were world travelers, taking many trips with their friends, daughter and grandchildren. She had many special friends over the years that were dear to her heart. She will surely be missed by all.
Mary Lou loved nursing and she was a "darn good one at that". Her nickname was Dr. Lou and she was always there with the cure and comforting hand. During her career, she worked at the VA Hospital in Sheridan as well as worked and taught at Wyoming Medical Center. She worked for 15 years with Dr. John Corbett, 15 years for Dr. Albert Metz, and finished her career with 10 years with Dr. James Maddy. She did vacation relief for almost every doctor in town and she was known and loved by all. She also was a Hospice Volunteer and a volunteer at Wyoming Medical Center.
The only thing more important to her was the love for her family. Her husband, Royce, daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren had a most inspiring relationship with her, especially her granddaughter, Carly, who for the last 3 years of her life, was her caregiver and best friend.
She is survived by her daughter, Kari (Jerry) Miller, grandson, Cody (Dana) Miller, granddaughter, Carly (Kyle) Kloster and her beloved great-grandchildren, Madison Grace and Royce Anthony Miller, all of Casper. She is also survived by her brothers, Wayne Pisto and family and Robert Pisto and family, all of Albuquerque, NM and her nephew, Mike Rogers of Billings, MT. She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce, her sister, Helen Cabre and brother, David Pisto, as well as Marjie, Jan, and Ruth Pisto, and George and Shirley Rogers.
A celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 6, 2012 at the Highland Park Community Church, 5725 Highland Drive, Casper.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 S. Wilson, Casper, WY 82601 or by special request of Miss Madison Miller to the Casper Humane Society, 849 E. E Street, Casper, WY 82601.
