Mary Lou Mackey

April 4, 1929 — November 13, 2012

Mary Lou Plank Mackey was born to Neil and Olive Plank on April 4, 1929 in Lincoln, Nebraska and passed into eternal life at the age of 83 on November 13, 2012 at the Kloefkorn Transitions and Hospice Home in Casper, Wyoming.

Mary Lou attended high school in Pierre, South Dakota, Grinnel Junior College in Grinnel, Iowa, and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, earning a degree in business. She met and married George Mackey in 1951 and moved to Wyoming. She worked in the banking and investment sector until her retirement at 65. She was a true servant all of her life, serving her church, her four children, 7 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Each person had a unique relationship with her as she made everyone feel special. Mary Lou loved to travel with her family. She hiked the Himalayas, toured Italy, visited Mount McKinley, rode the rides at Disney World, attended national soccer tournaments, and enjoyed many short trips all over the area.

Mary Lou was always positive, willing to help, a good listener, and had a way of saying very funny things at appropriate times.

Mary Lou will be missed by anyone who had the opportunity to call her friend. Her life, lived fully in joy, does not end. The twinkle in her eye, the humor in her words and the hugs she gave live on in those she touched.

Mary Lou is survived by her children Mike (Cheryl) Mackey and Sue (Tom) Simons of Casper, Sandy (Frank) Partridge of Florida, and Nancy (Greg) Schaffner of Denver, their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Neil and Olive Plank and her brother William Plank.

The memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Casper on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. Reverend Philip Major will be officiating. Donations can be made to St. Marks Episcopal Church and Kloefkorn Transitions and Hospice Home.
