A memorial service will be held for Mary Inez Hourt, age 82, at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, December 29th at 1:00 p.m.. She died December 22, 2014 at home with family. Interment will be at the Wyoming Memorial Gardens.
Born January 30, 1932 on a farm near Alva, Wyoming, she was the 7th child of eleven children born to Catherine (Giachino) and Wally Vitto. She came to Casper in 1945 to attend high school and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1949. She married John F. Hourt on November 11, 1948, at St. Anthony Church Rectory.
She was a secretary for a number of years; employed by American Pipe & Supply Co., British-American Oil, Engleman Enterprises, with her last employment at the Wyoming Credit Union League for twelve years.
In her early years, she enjoyed dancing and country music with her husband. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and followed news and politics. She enjoyed crafts; making beautiful quilts, rag rugs and crocheted items. She enjoyed her house, her yard and loved to garden. Most of all, she loved her family, spending time with husband and children and tending the grandsons.
She is survived by her sons; Randall Hourt and wife, Barb; Clinton Hourt and wife, Sandra and grandsons Jacob and James; daughter Kimberly Vogel and her husband Les. She is also survived by sisters Darleen Raber of Belle Fourche, SD; Sallie Hible of Casper WY; and Rosanna Sheldon of Kenai, AK. Her surviving brothers are Del Vitto of San Jose, CA; Harry Vitto of Cerritos, CA; and Donnie Vitto of Hulett, WY. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 2003, after 55 years of marriage; her parents, beloved maternal grandparents, brother Geno Vitto and sisters; Sylvia Hansen, Madelyne Campbell and Juanita Thomas.
Memorials may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice or Casper Humane Society.
