Mary Constance "Connie" Hauffe
Funeral services for Mary Constance "Connie" Hauffe 75, of Casper will be Saturday 10:30 a.m., April 26, 2008, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Officiating will be Msgr. James O'Neill, from St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and Father Bob Fox, from Our Lady of Fatima. Visitation will be Friday April 25, 2008 from 6 until 7 p.m. Interment will be in Meeteetse Cemetery. She died April 21, 2008 at Shepherd of the Valley.
Connie was born March 11, 1933 in Meeteetse, Wyoming the daughter of Elmer and Thelma Rose (Andres) Bergquist.
Connie spent her early years at the "Homestead Dude Ranch" which her mother and father homesteaded, outside of Meeteetse, WY. After her father's death, her family moved to Mitchell, S.D. where she attended school graduating from High School in 1951. They would return each summer to open the dude ranch and welcome guests from around the country. She then enrolled at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
In 1956 she married Harry Hauffe. After Harry graduated from USD in 1958, they moved to Wall, S.D. where Connie taught the 5th grade for two years. They then moved to Rapid City, S.D. where Connie was a stay at home mother. In 1969 they moved to Casper where she raised their three children and she worked doing numerous and various jobs from Legal Secretary to substitute teaching. She was very active with her church and civic groups holding several different offices volunteering for The Bishop's Guild, WCCW, Panhelenic, AAUW, Alpha Phi, and Timid Tycoons. She was an avid card player loving bridge the most. She enjoyed the outdoors, sunshine, and working in her flower gardens. She claimed she was "solar powered". Her grand children were the light of her life. Her dog, Minnie, was her best companion. She always donated alot of time and energy to the Humane Society. Helping family and friends in any way she could, was a top priority. She will be truly missed by her family, friends, and all of the lives she touched.
She is survived by sons Talbot J.Hauffe and wife of Cheyenne, WY, Michael P. Hauffe and wife of Marengo, ILL., daughter, Holliann M. Carpenter, and husband of Casper, 5 grandchildren, 2 nephews and 1 niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother and sister.
