CASPER -- Services for Marvin Harry Steffen, 79, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Daniel Holthus officiating.
Burial will take place in Oregon Trail State Veterans' Cemetery in Evansville with military honors accorded by the United Veterans' Council and National Guard.
Viewing is Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer Family Funeral Home.
He died June 21, 2007, at Life Care Center.
He was born Sept. 29, 1927, in York, Neb., the son of William O. Steffen and Minnie S. Wiempken.
He graduated from Scotia High School in 1946.
He enlisted in the Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1947.
He worked for the railroad as a locomotive engineer for approximately 25 years.
After leaving the railroad, he moved to Douglas and worked in the oilfields of Wyoming.
He semi-retired and moved to Casper in 1978.
He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church from the time he moved.to Casper.
Woodworking was one of his passions and he had a real gift for repairing anything mechanical.
He was a proud caring man who was always willing to help a friend in need.
Marvin will be greatly missed by many friends and relatives.
Survivors include a brother, Erwin Steffen, Garrison, S.D., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Loren Steffen, Wilford Steffen and Herbert Steffen.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Newcomer Family Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
