A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Marvin L. Wilson, 90, on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Marvin passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family, at his home in Casper on April 18, 2012. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home with the Rosary to follow at 6 p.m.
Marvin was born on June 15, 1921 in Lusk, Wyoming to Marvin and Laura (Sheridan) Wilson, the eldest of 8 children. He and his family moved to Casper in 1938, and he graduated from Natrona County High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1942 and served in the European Theatre. He was honorably discharged in 1945 with several service medals and a rank of Technical Sergeant. He married Mary Ellen Moore in Casper on April 22, 1950. Marvin enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family, and sharing his carpentry skills for any project where that was needed. He belonged to Carpenter's Union Local 1564, Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree Knight, and St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He participated in many activities with Boy Scouts and St. Anthony's School. Marvin is remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; he will be greatly missed by his family.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary, in 2004, an infant daughter, 2 brothers (Howard and Bill Wilson) and 2 sisters (Meryl Wilson and Nancy (Wilson) Miller).
Marvin is survived by his children; Chuck Wilson, Caro (Hank) Washut, Patti (Dave) Axmacher all of Casper, Joe Wilson of Oregon, Don (Elisa) Wilson of Montana, and Paul Wilson of Oklahoma. His grandchildren include Alicia, Joe, Alaina, Branden, Cassandra, Leo, Allyssa, Teresa, Jeremiah and William and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 sisters;
Lois (Wilson) Adams, Sr. Vivian Wilson, BVM, and Rosemary (Wilson) Anderson.
Memorials may be made in Marvin's honor to the St. Anthony Tri-parish School (Joy Fund), Meals on Wheels, Holy Cross Food Bank, or Amedisys Hospice.
