Marvin "Marv" D. Hilzer, age 82, of Evansville, passed away July 17, 2020 at Central Wyoming Hospice. Marv was born January 2, 1938 in Ault, Colorado to Henry and Esther (Lehr) Hilzer. He attended school at Grover High in Grover, Colorado. After high school he assisted his parents on the family farm and enjoyed calf roping. He relocated to Casper, Wyoming in 1957 where he met his wife, Vi Piel, on a casual gathering. In June of 1958, he married Vi at the Methodist Church in Casper. After moving in together in their home in Meadow Acres, he began his adventures in team roping. Through team roping he won several buckles, trophy saddles and lifelong friends. He also enjoyed roping with his friends and family at their home in Meadow Acres. He was active in 4-H as a club leader with his wife and children.
He worked various jobs in construction, brick laying and truck driving. He worked for Conoco for 22 years before retiring in 1986 at age 56. After retirement, he worked for the Glenrock Sale Barn part-time until they closed.
His greatest enjoyments in life was being a cowboy and spending time outdoors with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed elk and deer hunting, fishing, and camping. He liked giving nicknames for all of his family members and various friends.
Marv was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Orval Kludy, brother, Art Hilzer, and sister, Norlene Canon. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vi Hilzer, daughters, Terry Kludy, Lori Lukowiak and her husband Dave, grandchildren, Shanna Kludy and her husband, Travis O'Brien, Dean Kludy and his wife, Sarah; Ashley Glenn, all of Casper, and Kylee Condelario and her husband Mike, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and nine great-grandchildren, Austin, Kyler, Nathan, R.J., Katelynn, Ethan, Madelynn, Hayden, and Matthew, one surviving sister, Shirley Allen, of Denver, Colorado, and various nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
