Mark Armijo, 76, of Glenrock, passed away unexpectedly October 27, 2011. Mark was born June 4, 1935 to Mary and Elias Armijo in Wellington, Colorado, where he was also raised and graduated from high school. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and served four years. At this point in his life, in Cheyenne, he met the love of his life, Marilyn Taylor, and they were married September 17, 1960.
Mark's professional life was spent largely in the energy production field, having worked at the Dave Johnston Power Plant, the Exxon Uranium Mine and for Powder River Coal, from which he retired in September 1997. But work was not what defined Mark. He was an amazing and devoted husband and father. He was a great friend and had unconditional love for all he met. He is remembered as a hardworking man and one who loved to hunt and fish and camp and later in life discovered golf. His love for his family is only surpassed by his love for God and his savior.
Mark is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Marilyn, his sons Mark David Armijo (Lisa) of Queen Creek, Arizona and Mike Armijo (Clara) of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, his daughters Vexie Reimann (Steve) of Buffalo and Kristi Hart (Dusty) of Lusk, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and his sister Mary MeHaffey (John) of Eldorado, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Mary Armijo, his sisters Della and Jean and his brother Lee.
A rosary prayer service will be held in Mark's honor at St. Louis Catholic Church in Glenrock, with Father George Von Kaenel officiating, November 1, 2011, immediately following the 7 pm holy day mass. Mass of Christian burial will take place November 2, 2011, at 10 am, at St. Louis Catholic Church, with Father George Von Kaenel and Father Andrew Duncan officiating. The family would appreciate mass memorials in Mark's name, or contributions directly to the St. Joseph's Children's home, P.O. Box 1117, Torrington, WY 82240 or the University of Wyoming Marching Band, c/o the UW Foundation, 1200 East Ivinson Street, Laramie, WY 82070.
