Marie Louise Hardy Hawkins, 89, passed away, Sunday May 13,2012 in Casper Wyoming.
Marie was born September 1st, 1922 to Joseph Lindsey Hardy and Lutie mae Earle Hardy in Maricopa, California. Marie was raised most of her childhood in Bellflower California. Marie had one sister Jean Hardy Overocker.
Marie was a Deputy Sheriff in Los Angeles County. She work at Terminal Island facility for women, Firestone Sheriff Station and retired from Lakewood Sheriff Station. Marie also worked as a team, with her husband Sergeant Dewey J. Hawkins on extradition trips across the country to bring back female prisoners.
Marie lived in Garden Grove and San Marcos California, before moving to Casper Wyoming 7 years ago with her daughter Lori to be near Family.
Marie started to travel after her husband passed away in 1985.
It was one of her greatest joys. She traveled to Greece, Greek Isle, Turkey, Egypt, Germany, Austria, Hungary, England, France, Switzerland, Italy and Russia to name a few of her trips.
Marie loved to knit and make quilts for her Great-grand Children. Marie was also a member Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Marie is survived by; her sons, Barry Thormahlen TX, Lee Thormahlen CA; daughter Lori Wolter WY. And Grandchildren John Drayer, Lance Thormahlen, Anastacia Thormahlen, Kelli Thormahlen Slominski, Peter Thormahlen, Melissa Drayer Petersen, Heather Thormahlen and Amy Drayer. And 10 Great-grand children.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and her
Daughter Julie Thormahlen Cross.
A Memorial service for Marie Hawkins will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday May 27,2012 at Highland Park Community Church in the Chapel.
This is a Celebration of life for Marie! Marie loved the color Purple, feel free to wear Purple or bright colors.
