In Loving Memory of Marie Elliott
1927-2019
Leona "Marie" Elliott died early the morning of March 13, 2019 at Life Care Center in Casper, Wy. Marie was born on August 17, 1927 in Casper, WY; the fourth of seven children of Emmett and Mabel Casebolt. Her family lived on a homestead a few miles north of the town of Natrona, WY. Her siblings were Robert, Margery (Manning), Maxine (Harrison), Donald, Dean, and Lenora (Davis). She attended a one room school house in the town of Natrona until high school when she attended Natrona County High School.
On August 5, 1944 Marie married her soul mate and steadfast companion Marshall Elliott. They had four children, ten grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Marshall and Marie relished life over their 74 years of marriage. They loved attending UW games, traveling the world with Ports of Call, snow-birding in Blythe, CA; and thousands of hours at the Casper Elks Lodge.
A dedicated homemaker she sewed lovely clothes for herself and her two daughters. Her fried chicken and mashed potato dinners are legendary in the family. As a child she learned to crochet and taught herself to tat in her 60's. At Christmas her tree was showered with stunning tatted snowflakes. After retiring from First National Bank Marie proved to be a gifted artisan. Her tole painting works decorate the homes of family and friends to this day. Other joys for Marie included camping with family, bird watching, and crafting with her grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her oldest son Lonny, her parents, and all siblings other than younger sister Lenora (Davis). She is survived by her husband Marshall; daughters Betty Wolfe (Jon) and Lynn Schanck (Norman); daughter in law Carolyn (Lonny); and son Bill (Kathy); as well as all her grand and great grandchildren.
