Margaret H. Cooper

May 14, 1919 — December 5, 2015

Margaret Helen (Allan) Cooper passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Shepherd of the Valley in Casper, WY. She was 96 years of age. A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Pine Slope Cemetery, Belle Fourche, SD.

Mar was born May 14, 1919 to Vere and Edna (Lasater) Allan. She was born at home on the ranch at Tie Creek, Montana. She attended country school, high school in Camp Crook, South Dakota and Sanborn, Iowa where she graduated.

Margaret married Leroy Cooper December 10, 1941 in Baker, Montana. They made their home on a ranch in the Jump Off near Buffalo, South Dakota. Later moved to the old Cooper place (Dennis Price Ranch) near Harding where they lived most of their married years.

Roy and Mar Cooper were both friends and a loving couple. They enjoyed friends and relatives, who were always welcomed to their home for a good meal and friendly conversation. Mar was a good cook so a lot of people would stop for lunch when they were nearby.

Roy and Mar were always at the community dances. They loved to dance. Sometimes they would turn up the radio at home, push back the dining room table, and dance together or with one of us kids. I believe we learned to dance that way.

Dad loved to tease Mom just to get her to "fire back" at him, which she usually obliged. One thing Mar would do to get back at him was to tell about beating him in the pony race at the Camp Crook Fair. Roy was so mad about getting beat, he hid behind the Fair Building and pouted. This would always shut him up.

Our family may not have had a lot of material things, but we had a lot of love. Mar always made sure we were clean, well fed and since she was an accomplished seamstress, we were well dressed. Mar made us girls beautiful dresses. Not our brother Vere though, he just wanted Cowboy Clothes.

After Vere got hurt, Mar helped him with his kids and she got a great kick out of Josh, Cayle and Kirbie. Mom would tell about Kirbie Ann asking her "Why are you all moldy"? (she meant why was she all wrinkled).

Mar was the mother to 5 children: Eslyn (Victor) Dolajack of Casper, Wyo., Sharla Rae Cooper, Laurel (Roger) Marshall of Atwood, ILL., Claire (Joel) Manausa of Murphysboro, Tenn., and Vere (Annette) Copper of Douglas, Wyo. The rest of her family includes numerous grandchildren and great great grandchildren, one special sister in-law Kay Baier, nine nieces, and ten nephews of the Baier, Price, Grooters and Allan families.

Mar precedes her parents Vere and Edna Allan, husband Jay Leroy Cooper, daughter Sharla Rae, three brothers Bus, Ed, Leslie Allan, a sister Eslyn Grooters and sister in-law Charice Price in passing.

Mar was an avid seamstress, cook and crotchetier. She worked in various cafes and always had a project to work on. She helped on the Ranch when ever she was needed.
